Take a Walk on the WILD side
at Bribie Island....
Yes, we are back at the naked beach! But, today, it is SO windy, no one in their right mind would want to be naked unless they wanted to be sand blasted. Come to think of it....Ladies (and some of you guys), why spend money on micro-dermabrasion? Just go to the beach on a day with high winds, and get your ENTIRE body blasted!
anyway, I digress....after getting lost on my bike ride (yes, only I could get lost on a small island), I went to the beach. It was so windy, and almost cool enough for a jumper! For those of you who are not from Australia, a "jumper" is a sweatshirt! Anyway, it wasn't great beach weather, so, I decided to take a stroll down the beach. Right about the time I was ready to head back, I saw these guys on the beach with kite surfing kites - but, instead of being on a surf board type thing, they were on go-kart type things! Wow! I have been wanting to learn how to kite surf, but, have been a little intimidated by it, not to mention by the cost!
So, I sat down a little ways from them and watched...kind of like a little dog, waiting to be petted...I just sat there. Then, one of the guys said something, and I scootted closer....and then, one of the guys, said: "Are you keen to go for a ride?"
AM I KEEN TO GO FOR A RIDE??? AM I KEEN TO GO FOR A RIDE?????? Is the pope catholic? did the bear sh*t in the woods?
So, next thing I know, I have a helmet on my head, and I am zipping down the beach, mud sprayig every where - wind wipping, people jumping out of our way! oh, it was fantastic!!!
A video clip and pictures of the entire excursion will be posted soon to:
www.extremekites.com.au
but, in the mean time, I am posting some pictures. These pictures are not from my encounter, they are from the exterme kite webiste - but will show you what it is like, although, I didn't get to go up in the air....
stay tuned for the video!!!
